Artists from Decatur, Fort Wayne and New Knoxville, Ohio, have sold sculptures displayed during the 2013 Decatur Sculpture Tour. The DST committee retained a portion of the sale proceeds to help underwrite future sculpture tour efforts and to eventually purchase permanent art for the community.
“Our primary goal is to improve the quality of life through art, but a big part of making that happen is promoting the artists and their quality work,” said Sue Roe, sculpture tour committee member and North Adams Arts Council president. “The pieces are created to be sold, which supports our artists as well as the tour,” Roe said.
The 2014 Decatur Sculpture Tour will kick off at 8 a.m. June 13 with the installation of the sculptures, followed an artists forum from 2-4 p.m. Food vendors will line the courthouse square and a wine tasting event will be held from 5-8 p.m.
Sculptures will be unveiled at 6 p.m., and live music from “My Lost Tribe” will round out the evening from 8-10 p.m.
