Three AC coaches tender resignations

April 9, 2014

After seven years as the head wrestling coach at Adams Central, Doug Schultz has decided to step down at the conclusion of the 2013-14 school year.
Schultz submitted his letter of resignation Tuesday night to the AC board of education, stating he feels comfortable leaving the program in the hands of assistant coaches Tony Currie, Doug Lithicum and Bobby Perry at the high school level.
Also resigning their posts Tuesday were cheerleading coach Marie Combs and swim coach Lana Shoaf.
Athletic Director Jerry Amstutz, who is in his first year as AD at the school after longtime director Rick Minnich retired, said Schultz recommended Currie for the head coaching position, stating over the past few years Schultz has given more responsibility to the assistant coach in anticipation of this move.
