Thomas William Adler, 96, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Adams County on November 21, 1916, to the late Carl and Theresa (Baltzell) Adler.
On May 3, 1941, he married Dorothy H. (Howard) Adler; she preceded him in death on July 2, 2009.
Thomas was a school teacher at Adams Central Community Schools and also worked as a farmer. He was a graduate of Indiana Central, Huntington College and University of St. Francis. He was a member of the Adams Central Scholarship and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur, and was a lifetime member of the Decatur Lodge 571 F. & A.M. and of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne. He was also a member of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association, Indiana State Police Alliance, and Adams County Historical Society.
Among survivors are two daughters, Dr. Verna (Keith) MacCornack of New York, N.Y., and Theresa (Mark) Bachmann of Westport, Conn.; son, Raymond M. (Katherine) Adler of Noblesville; sister, Dorothy I. Adler of Decatur; and six grandchildren.
Per Thomas’s request, a private graveside service will be held at Decatur Cemetery with Rev. Randy Rossman officiating.
