Thomas J. Alberding, 51, of Decatur, died on Monday, September 5, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Tom was born in Decatur, Indiana, on July 28, 1960, to Leo W. and Mary L. (Geimer) Alberding.
On July 30, 2010, he married Sara E. Webb.
Tom was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur and its Holy Name Society. He also was a member of Knights of Columbus Chapter 864 in Decatur, of which he was a past Grand Knight.
Tom worked as a production and sales manager for Alberding Woodworking.
Survivors include his mother, Mary L. Alberding of Decatur; wife Sara E. Alberding of Decatur; children Tony Alberding of San Francisco, California; Liz (Ryan) Wamsley of Fort Wayne; and Eliza, Malachi, and Vincent Palumbo, all of Decatur; brothers and sisters Mary Ann (Tim) Lichtenberger, Peg (Jim) Aloisio, Steve (Jeananne) Alberding, Bill (Jackie) Alberding, Den (Amy) Alberding, Barb (Bruce) Dicke, all of Decatur, and Julie Alberding of Tucson, Arizona; and a grandson, Nicholas Wamsley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo, and a daughter, Valarie Rose.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 8, 2011, from 3-8 p.m., in Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 2:30 p.m.
An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Thomas Lombardi officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Decatur.
Memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School at Hessen Cassel in Allen County.
