Theodore G. Hill

    Theodore Glenn “Ted” Hill, 82, of Decatur, a former member of the Decatur City Council, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at his residence.
    He was born on July 2, 1928, in Decatur to Glenn V. and Marie (Rowley) Hill.
    He married Marian K. (Bashara) Giessler on August 16, 1975; she survives in Decatur.
    He is also survived by a son, Tyler (Marlene) Hill of Decatur; a daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Hill of Houston, Texas; a stepson, Tod Giessler of Decatur; a sister, Marjorie Lou “Marge” Hutker of The Villages, Florida; a grandson, Adam Hill of Fort Wayne; a granddaughter. Rachel (Timothy) Hiesterman of St. Paul, Minnesota; and two stepgrandsons, Justin and Zach Giessler of Decatur.
    He was preceded in death by his parents.
    He was a graduate of Indiana University and the retired owner of Leland Smith Insurance Agency in Decatur.
    He was a member of Decatur Masonic Lodge 571 F. & A.M. for over 50 years, of which he was a past Master. He also was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne; Fort Wayne York Rite Bodies; Mizpah Shrine, of which he was a past Potentate; Royal Order of Jesters Court 27 in Fort Wayne, of which he was past Director and past Royal Director; The Order of SOBIB; Kachina Klub, of which he was a life member; the Adams County, Whitley County, and Blackford County Shrine Clubs; Sustaining DeMolay Uncle; Mizpah Samsar Club; Flying Shriners; and Order of the Eastern Star.
    He was also an Eagle Scout, was given the Sagamore of the Wabash award by Gov. Frank O’Bannon, and was named an Admiral in the Texas Navy by Gov. George W. Bush.
    There will be no public visitation or funeral service, per his request.
    Memorials may be made to The Shriners Hospital for Crippled and Burned Children or to The Alzheimer’s Association through Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, 225 W. Adams St. Decatur, IN, 46733.
