Swim Squaws top DeKalb

January 23, 2014

Sarah Evans

The Bellmont swimming and diving teams split with visiting DeKalb on Tuesday night at home as the Squaws handled the Lady Barons 127-49 and the Braves' contest was left unresolved at a 91-91 tie.
The BHS girls took first and second place in all three relays.
Senior Sarah Evans had two first place finishes in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Other firsts for Bellmont included Rachel Klingensmith, Oliva Hamilton, Mae Baczynski, Reagan Burry, Hannah Myers and Allyson Norby in diving.
Sophomore Brittney Hartman broke a minute in her leg of the 400 freestyle race.
Two weeks ago at the NHC conference meet, the DeKalb boys’ team defeated the Bellmont boys by nine points. The Braves made up those nine points on Tuesday for the tie led by the team of Riley Stetler, Robby Ehlerding, Boyd Mills and Spencer Shoup who took first place by four-one hundreths of a second in the 200 Free relay, leading to the tie instead of a loss.
Up next, Bellmont plays host to Adams Central tonight.
