The shutdown of the federal government has reached out to impact Adams County. Soil and Water Conservation District Director Ryan Noblitt reported to county commissioners at their regular weekly meeting Monday that the office he shares with the United States Department of Agriculture will be closed until all federal government offices reopen.
"Since we share space in the same building with the USDA," Noblitt explained, "we are not allowed in our offices (which are rented from the USDA) until the government shutdown is over." Noblitt went on to stress that "we are still serving our constituents," noting that he will be working out of his home rather than the office in the interim.
"I met with the board this morning, and we're hoping that the shutdown won't last past the debt ceiling negotiations" which are scheduled to occur on Oct. 17. "I have put a sign on the door of our office with my telephone number and Facebook address," so clients can continue to reach Noblitt while the federal government is shut down.
