Suze Ann Eichhorn

    Suze Ann Eichhorn, 88, of Huntington, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton, where she received care for the past two weeks.  She had been a resident of the Tipton House in Huntington since 2009.
     Suze Ann was born on September 29, 1924, in Bluffton to C. Frank and Ethel (Rex) Ulmer.  She graduated from Bluffton High School with the class of 1942.  On February 18, 1946, at the First Baptist Church in Bluffton, she married Robert P. Eichhorn.  They shared 50 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on September 11, 1996.
     A homemaker, she was a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church in Bluffton and attended the Northview Church of Christ in Huntington. She was very active volunteering in the community.  She volunteered for over 20 years as a teacher’s aide in the Huntington North School System for Mentally Handicapped Children, served as the past president and 45-year member of the Dandelion Club, was a member of the Delta Theta Tau Society and volunteered for the Salvation Army.   She was the recipient of the Lamount Award given by Pathfinders of Huntington.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three sisters: Martha G. Strohl, Mary Jane Wheeler and Helen J. Stein.
     Suzie is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
     Calling hours will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, at Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton.  Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. following calling hours. Jeff Lemler, certified celebrant, will officiate.  Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton.
