Stetler’s appeal is rejected by state’s top court

August 16, 2012

A Decatur man sentenced to 90 years in prison for child molestation lost his appeal to the Indiana Court of Appeals, the Daily Democrat learned this morning.
Andrew E. Stetler, 33, was given three consecutive 30-year sentences last December for two counts of child molestation and for being a habitual offender.
Stetler's appeal was based upon whether the evidence presented was sufficient to sustain one of his convictions for child molestation and whether his 90-year sentence was inappropriate in light of the nature of the offense and his character.
Stetler has an extensive criminal record, including a prior child molestation conviction in 2003.
Further details will appear in Friday's edition of the Democrat.
