Stephen J. Sutton

    Stephen Joseph Sutton, 73, Berne, passed away at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. 
    He was born March 18, 1941, in Decatur, to the late Jesse Cary and Margaret Regina Sutton.
    He married the late Nanna Lee Aurand on Friday, Jan. 4, 1963, in Indianapolis. 
    Stephen attended Decatur Catholic High School, and later went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Tri-State University, where he studied engineering. He had worked as an excavator for many years, retiring from Dave’s Excavating in Marion. In his spare time, Stephen enjoyed hunting, trapping and cutting wood. He was also an avid gardener.
  Survivors include two daughters, Sheri (Richard) Hermann of Decatur and Jodi (Tim) Roberts of Liberty Center; five sons, Stephen (Sandra) Sutton and Samuel Sutton, both of Geneva, Luke Sutton of Berne, Kevin (Judy)  Fuhrman of Monroe, and Gary Furhman of Fort Wayne; five sisters, Susie (Joseph) Lacovelli of Hillsdale, Ill., Sarah (Tim) Jur of Cayce, S.C., Sharon (John) Ryan of Indianapolis, Sandy (Matthew) Mace of Rochelle, Ill. and Stephenie Sutton (Tom Corvi) of Oak Park, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shauna Yoder, and one grandchild.
    A service to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Presentation Catholic Church, 5970E 1100S, Geneva, with Father J. Bosco Perrera officiating. 
    Burial will follow in the St. Mary of the Presentation Parish Cemetery in Geneva.
     Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Downing and Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva.  A Rosary service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. 
    In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Mary of The Presentation Parish.
