More than 100 interested area residents packed Riverside Center Wednesday evening to hear an update on the city of Decatur’s application for a Stellar Communities grant.
The city last month was selected as one of six finalists for the state program that allocates millions of dollars for selected Indiana towns and cities to revitalize their communities. Two recipients of the Stellar Communities designation will be announced later this summer.
Cam Collier, a member of the city’s Long Term Advisory Committee and its Greater Decatur group that has spearheaded the application process, welcomed the visitors and gave a brief overview of efforts over the past 12 months that have gotten Decatur to the finalist stage of the grant process.
