Stellar Communities grant application is submitted

February 19, 2014

A Letter of Interest from the City of Decatur was being forwarded electronically today to the Indiana Stellar Communities program as the city seeks to receive a multi-million dollar grant to fund some sweeping changes/additions within the community.
Kristi Sturtz of Sturtz Public Management, Fort Wayne, was on hand at Tuesday night’s city council meeting to outline the lengthy plan the city is submitting in its bid to land the grant. Sturtz was hired by the city at a cost of $8,000 several months back, handing her the reins to oversee the bid process, and council on Tuesday gave her the green light to move forward.
A native of Portland, Sturtz has previously guided Stellar grant bids by Auburn and Portland, and got the latter to the final six bidders.
