Stars snap four-game skid, handle Parkway with ease

    BERNE—The Starfire boys hosted buckeye state foe, Parkway, on Tuesday night and came away with a solid 57-42 victory over the Panthers to improve their record to 3-4 on the season.
    After starting the season 2-0, the South Adams Starfires had lost their last four games including ugly losses to Jay County and Bluffton before finding their stride in a close loss at home to Heritage last week. Against Parkway, the Stars shot the ball very well at 49% for the game and 70% from the free throw line.
    Seniors Dustin Wanner and Scott Hoeppner, who lead the Starfires in scoring with both over 10 points a game, broke a two-game scoring slump in the game leading SA with 17 and 16 respectively.
    The game was tight until the third quarter with Parkway actually leading 13-11 after the first. Out of the halftime, which saw South Adams take back the lead 27-25, the Stars held the Panthers to a four-point quarter ballooning their lead to 42-29 heading into the deciding quarter.
    The Stars will travel down to Northeastern in Fountain City on December 27. The game will start with the JV contest at 6 p.m.
