MONROE—South Adams cross country fortunes went 4-0 Tuesday night as they knocked off ACAC foes Adams Central and Garrett in both boys and girls races.
The Starfires dominated both races taking the top two places in the girls race and top three in the boys field. Scoring-wise, the SA harriers beat Adams Central 23-32 and Garrett 22-35 in the girls race while AC managed a 25-30 win over Garrett. In the boys division, the Starfires clearly were the best team with a 17-50 victory over Adams Central and 19-42 win over Garrett. Garrett squeezed out a 25-30 win against the Jet boys.
The boys contest ended with Evan Liechty, Brody Shane, and Joel Hawbaker finishing one-two-three with respective times of 17:31, 17:36, and 17:43. Jaron Somers of Garrett and Kyle Fawcett of Adams Central broke the SA domination with times of 17:44 and 18:01 but Cody Sprunger crossed the finish line in sixth for the Stars in 18:30. Tim Lehman was ninth overall for SA to round out their team scoring in 19:01.
Other South Adams runners were Sawyer Miller, tenth in 19:03, Daniel Velasco, 11th in 19:09, Andrew Steffen, 14th in 19:19, Brett Affolder, 24th in 20:20, Boaz Marbach, 25th in 20:31, Charlie Hirschy, 26th in 20:46, Cole Litwiller, 28th in 21:17, and Jacob Werst, 35th in 25:39.
For Adams Central, Fawcett was their only top 10 runner. Eli Stoller finished 13th with a time of 19:12 and he was followed by Dillon Hartman, 22nd in 19:56, Maverick Baumer, 23rd in 20:01, Michael Yoder, 27th in 21:12, Jim Harrison, 29th in 22:12, Taylor Isch, 30th in 22:12, Dylan Krueger, 31st in 22:12, Colton Frauhiger, 32nd in 23:13, Chance Reynolds, 33rd in 23:03, and Ellison Kaehr, 34th in 23:40.
There were 20 female racers in that three-team affair with Hannah Moore and Kristen Muselman posting 21:04 and 21:46 clockings to top the finishers for South Adams. South Adams also had Jenna Smith in sixth in 22:08, Alli Amstutz, eighth in 23:26, Alexis Ford, 13th in 25:57, and Sydne Zuber, 14th in 26:04.
The best Adams Central finish was fourth place by Kayla Isch who ended up with a time of 22:05. Also in the top 10 were Jessica Dunn, seventh in 22:54, Olivia Macklin, ninth in 23:50, and Leah Spangler, tenth in 24:02. Other Jets participating were Mary Fox, 12th in 25:01, Madison Carroll, 17th in 26:25, Olivia Mishler, 18th in 27:16, and Morgan Hill, 20th in 29:43.
