Stars go unblemished in Homestead Invitational

    FORT WAYNE — Twenty-one points was as close as any squad came to matching South Adams in the season opening duals at Homestead Saturday as the Starfires easily took the title for the day with a perfect 5-0 slate.
    The fewest points scored on the day for the Stars was 48 in that 21-point win over Fort Wayne Snider. The Stars dumped the host Spartans 49-21, downed ACAC foe Heritage 50-23, blasted Marion 63-18 and finished with a 45-27 win over Churubusco.
    Homestead was second in the meet, going 4-1.
    The Starfires open their ACAC slate on Thursday at Garrett. The annual (SA) Spencer Hayworth Invitational will be held at the Stardome on Saturday. In order, the Starfires will take on: Woodlan, Delta, Jay County, Union City and Eastbrook.
