BRIAN HAKES ... stays on top for Braves

"I'm excited about it and I think our guys are excited, but we need to do much better than we did at Adams Central," stated South Adams' seventh-year wrestling coach Eric Myers on the match set for the Stardome tonight versus No. 17 Bellmont.
South Adams, which had a 44-meet win skein stopped with a 38-26 loss at Adams Central two weeks ago, will bring in an 18-2 record while Bellmont is 15-2 after Tuesday's convincing 36-18 victory at Central. The Starfires' other loss was to one of the top big class schools in Ohio, Mason.
"We saw the hurting Bellmont put on AC, but we think we are up for the challenge," said Myers.
"We just have to win the close matches. We found that out," said the coach, noting some narrow losses early in the match with Central. "I feel there will be a lot of competitive matches."
The meeting between the two schools is the first in 40 years. Bellmont dropped long-time rival Snider to make room for the Starfires, who finished second to Bellmont in the Jay County Sectional last year.
There will be only a few jayvee matches prior to the varsity tonight. The main event will likely start a little after 7 p.m.
