BERNE—It was South Adams Senior Night at the Stardome Tuesday night but it was a pair of seniors from Winchester that stole the show as the Starfires lost a heartbreaker to the Golden Falcons, 51-50.

Cody Woodbury and Connor Detweiler will both be players that South Adams coach Andy Browns and the Stars will be happy to see graduate in May as they combined to score 37 of the 51 Winchester points including a game-winning hoop with 6.2 seconds to play by Detweiler, his only two-point basket of the game.
South Adams had strong contributions from their senior trio of Dustin Wanner, Scott Hoeppner, and Matt Alig who accounted for 43 of the 50 SA tallies (Chase Mosser had the other seven) but it was a defensive lapse that cost the Starfires severely.
The Stars were leading 50-47 with less than a minute to play when Wanner's cross-court pass allowed Hoeppner to swish a wide-open look from the left corner from behind the three-point line. The Stars then swiped the ball from the Golden Falcons and appeared to be in the driver's seat as Wanner zipped his way to the bucket for a twisting lay-up but the ball rolled off the rim with Winchester grabbing the loose ball.
Winchester coach Rick Owens called a :27.7 timeout and Detweiler, who had already hit five treys in the game, rushed a three that missed but Woodbury alertly popped the rebound back in for a 50-49 SA edge with :17 to play.
