Stanley J. "Deak" Gallogly, 82, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in the Adams Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born on Wednesday, October 22, 1930, in Adams County to the late Dewey and Hazel (Smitley) Gallogly.
Deak served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 43 in Decatur. Deak retired in 1993 from Decatur Industries with 14 years of service. He had also worked part-time for St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery for 14 years and part-time for Ted Hakes from 1995-2000. In his retirement, he cut and split wood for sale.
Among survivors are former wife, E. Frances Bowman of Decatur; son, Ronnie (Nam) Gallogly of Decatur; two daughters, Debra Schwartz of Decatur and Barbara Wilson of Indianapolis; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Deak was preceded in death by two brothers, Dore Gallogly and Lawrence "Bing" Gallogly; and two sisters, Betty Andrews and Claudine Noll.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, April 6, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Decatur Cemetery with military graveside services to be conducted by American Legion Post 43 of Decatur.
Preferred memorials are to the Adams County Community Foundation Cancer Fund or the donor's choice.
