Just a few hours after the first day of classes had ended for the new school year at North Adams Community Schools, school board members on Tuesday evening filled several remaining personnel vacancies — including one in their own ranks.
Stacy Bussel was issued the oath of office and joined the board to complete the remainder of the term of former board member Don Elder. Elder resigned his at-large seat on the board effective July 16, citing family health reasons.
Bussel, a supervisor at Parkview Hospital with a master's degree in nursing administration, was selected by board members last month from among three candidates for the position.
In other personnel decisions, the board accepted the resignations of Austin Alanis as assistant boys soccer coach, Matt Monroe as high school academic Super Bowl coach, and Lindsey Enterline as Title I teacher at Northwest Elementary.
Hired by the board were Drew Marley, Adams-Wells assistant technology coordinator; Sarah Holmes, Adams-Wells physical therapist; Trisha Gose, Title I teacher at Southeast Primary; Quincy Huffine, Title I teacher at Northwest; Nicole Strack, parttime Title I teacher at Northwest; Jeff Heller, paraprofessional at Northwest; Sara Miller, paraprofessional at Southeast;.
Also, Kevin Burkhalter, middle school assistant football coach; Brandon Razo, assistant boys' soccer coach; Sheri Litwiller, high school English teacher; Katie Myers, Title I teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School; Randy Hisner, high school English department head; Kristine Griffin, Southeast special education paraprofessional; Kendra Schlemmer, high school food service worker; Barbara Norby, Zion Lutheran School food service worker; and Melanie Foreman, assistant volleyball coach.
Volunteers approved by the board included Stephanie Shoup and Kylee Lehrman for the high school volleyball program.
