Squaws falter late against Dwenger

November 16, 2011

FORT WAYNE— The Squaws traveled to Bishop Dwenger seeking their first win last night as they faced the Saints in their third contest the year, and they fell short by a 54-46 count.
Bellmont played up and down with Dwenger for most of the game, but never really found the lead except for early in the first quarter. The game was, in fact, tied at 12 after the first frame.
Allison Gutierrez, Bellmont's senior two-guard, proved that her 19-point outburst against Woodlan was just one of many more to come as she once again led the Squaws with 18 points to go along with a team-high six rebounds, two assists, and a steal. She also limited her turnovers to two, which has been a problem plaguing the Bellmont squad thus far in the season.
The Squaws will be in action on Friday night for their home-opener against Jay County with a 6:00 start.
