Bellmont drew the toughest team in the sectional in the Norwell Knights, but a three-set sweep in their NHC meeting earlier in September saw the Squaws getting the best of their adjacent county foes 25-21, 25-18, 27-25.
On the other side of the bracket sits two first round match-ups with Eastbrook facing Mississinewa and Whitko challenging Heritage. Most likely, the Lady Indians will advance against E'brook and Heritage will emerge victorious on that side with wins over Whitko and Mississinewa for the right to the finals where they should encounter the Squaws who look to add a 29th title for Bellmont which would be their eighth straight. Should Bellmont advance, they will most likely see Yorktown at the regional level which would be a battle of #1 versus #2 in 3A.
Adams Central has a strong case to win a 13th sectional title which would be their first since 2008, but they will have to battle a field that starts with Bishop Luers in the bye game where the Lady Jets begin their conquest at the Bluffton sectional. AC bested the Lady Knights in five sets earlier this season at the Hangar. As is the case in the Norwell-hosted 3A sectional, the two best teams earned a bye in the draw playing each other in the semi-finals.
In the first round battles, Churubusco will have to deal with the feisty Starfires who have come on of late challenging big schools like Leo in the ACAC and giving the Jets a run in a five-set affair at the Stardome a few weeks back. The Lady Eagles are 13-9 and lost 3-1 against AC earlier this season.
