South Adams suffered just their second match-play loss this season to the surging Bellmont Squaws at Cross Creek Golf Club on Wednesday evening, 193-202. On the difficult back nine at Creek, Sydney Willis found a way to beat the heat and blow away the competition once again to earn medalist honors with a 39 (3+) but her fellow Starfires could not pick up enough of the slack to keep the team score close.

Willis would start her day with a bogey on the par four 14th and another on 15 before the state-ranked junior would recover with a birdie on 16. Making her round with par on the final two holes of the back nine Sydney would bogey the 10th, then par the 11th before losing another stroke on 12, 14, and 15 to bogies on an overall great day.
Rachel Klingensmith led the Squaws with a 43 on the day as part of another team effort from Bellmont earning the win. Morgan Ellsworth landed a 48 in relief, while Kelsey Roth and Macy Phegley each shot rounds of 51 and Julia Brewer and Rylee Hamilton each shot 57s.
Klingensmith did her best to keep pace with the Starfire ace at the number one slot after shooting a nine on the opening 14th. The rest of the way proved to be one of her better rounds of the season earning a birdie on 15. She would lose three strokes between the 16th and 17th before parring the difficult 18th as well as the final four holes to begin the back nine (10-13).
For South Adams, Alaina Johnston shot a 52 for second best on the Starfire end with Kelli Lehman shooting a 54, Jaci Gorrell a 57, Alleigh Wingler a 62, and Catlyn Hofstetter a 63.
