Heritage led most of the way and were up 4-1 when they got an insurance run in the top of the sixth with the bases loaded and only one out. Coach Rick Burkhalter came out to have a chat with his junior Hailee Hormann.
After the timeout, Brieann Burkhalter took the ball and narrowly avoided more damage from the Lady Pats getting a strikeout after a walk reloaded the bases to get out of the inning.
Two walks started out the bottom of the seventh for Bellmont, followed by a Janaya single into centerfield loading the bases. Madalyn Mann scored the first run of the inning singling in Natalie McConnell to make the score 5-2.
The Squaws held their breath as senior Mikala Quinn calmly stepped up and did what she has done all year...cream the softball.
The senior tripled for the second time in the game to deep right center clearing the bases and tying the game up with still nobody out, 5-5. A Burkhalter single brought in Quinn from third to give Bellmont the lead before Heritage was finally able to get out of the inning.
Bellmont will travels to Blackford on Saturday for the Lady Bruins' annual invitational starting at 11 a.m.
