Bellmont used a nine-run third inning to its advantage Saturday and posted an 11-0 win over county rival South Adams in varsity softball action at the BHS diamond.
The scheduled second game was postponed due to rain.
Bellmont led just 1-0 after two innings with SA's Lily Taing and Bellmont's Brieann Burkholder engaged in a battle on the mound.
The nine-run assault broke the game wide open for the Squaws and allowed them to win by the 10-run mercy rule.
Payton Schultz went three-for-three with a double and three RBIs for Bellmont while Dana Kaczmarek doubled, had two hits, and one RBI. Sara Williamson went two-for-two with an RBI, while others driving in runs for the Squaws were Burkhalter, Mikala Quinn, Lauren Bowman, and Jessica Lee.
Burkhalter fashioned her shutout win by allowing just three South Adams hits, striking out three, and walking none.
