The Bellmont Squaws opened their 2011 campaign with a 9-0 win over the Bluffton Tigers Wednesday afternoon at the Bellmont diamond.
Nicole Schevenius tossed the complete game shutout for the Squaws pitching out of several situations where Bluffton had runners in scoring position to earn the victory.
Bellmont opened the game with five runs in the bottom of the first thanks to several misplayed hits by the Tigers. The Squaws added three more in the second and pushed across their final tally in the bottom of the sixth. Brieann Burkhalter was the hitting star of the game for the Squaws with three extra base hits including a long triple in the sixth.
The next game for the Squaws will be Monday as they travel to county rival Adams Central for a 5 p.m. tilt.
