Softball tourney scores

    After breezing through the first round against the eight-seeded Decatur Dental Monday night, 12-0, the 1st Class Hoosiers faced their toughest game of the season in the semi-final match-up against Eichhorn's Jewelry but six runs in the fifth inning sealed the comeback win for the undefeated one seed, 11-9.
    The Hoosiers jumped on top in the first with three runs but Eichhorn's scored two in the bottom half and then tied the game at three with one in the second inning. 1st Class jumped back on top with two in the third, but then Eichhorn's took their first lead of the game with three in the third to make the score 6-5.    They padded the lead with three more in the fourth for a 9-5 edge, but the Hoosiers came roaring back with six in the fifth against Eichhorn's hurler Tori Miller who struggled to find the plate late in the game.
    Miller took the loss going 4.2 innings allowing eight runs on eight hits with 16 walks and 11 K's. Bailea Sprunger got the last out of the fifth in relief. Jillian Roth started for the Hoosiers allowing three runs on five hits with seven K's in three innings of work. She earned the win by re-entering in the fifth inning. Kaitlyn Hawkins pitched 0.2 innings of relief allowing three runs on a hit with five walks. Lexi Lose also relieved for 1.1 innings allowing three runs on no hits with six walks.
    At the plate, Brooke Burgin had a triple with two RBIs that were a key part of the six-run fifth inning. Roth and Adrienne Evans also had two hits a piece in the game with Evans grabbing four RBIs to lead the team. Hawkins and Morgan Tracey each had a double. Sprunger had two of Eichhorn's six hits in the game with three RBIs. 
    Rorick Electric won their game over West End with ease, 10-1, in the second game of the night to set up a championship meeting with 1st Class tonight starting at 6:30.

    Mind's Eye Graphics had no trouble dispatching Hip Hop in the senior league championship on Tuesday night with a dominating 15-1 win in five innings.
    The season and tournament champions started with a four-run first inning, then a mild one-run second to lead 5-0. Then they came out swinging in the third inning to post five more runs and then another five in the fourth. Hip Hop scored a run in the top of the fifth but it was not enough to avoid the 10-run mercy rule after five innings and Mind's Eye was crowned champs.
    Nicole Schevenius went the distance on the hill for Mind's Eye throwing five innings with six K's and only allowing a run on two hits with a pair of walks. Taylor Blum took the loss for Hip Hop allowing 15 runs on seven hits with 10 walks and three K's.
    Offensively, Jessica Walther, Allie Feasel, and Schevenius accounted for six of the seven hits with two apiece. Beka Wilder had the other hit in the game going 1-1 with a pair of walks. Walther had the game's only extra base hit with a double in the fourth inning scoring two runs. Schevenius had three runs and Feasel led the way with three RBIs. Sadie Alberson and Jenessa Smedley had Hip Hop's only hits, both in the fifth inning with Alberson doubling then scoring on Smedley's single.
