Belmont Squaws Soccer team played Woodland in a down pour Tuesday night at Kreager Field, winning 7-0.
The field was flooded making it difficult to score in the beginning of the game for either team, but Bellmont continued their patient play and possession soccer as the midfielders Kylie Beery, Amberly Guiterezz, and Alyssa Strickler continued to pass the ball well.
Despite a solid start from Woodlan's keeper, 15 minutes into the game the flood gates opened (hypothetically). Taylor Kennedy started the scoring with a goal and she was assisted by Adrea Fruchte. 10 minutes later Megan Schueler scored with a long high through ball from Shelby Wright.
Just one minute passed before Kennedy and Fruchte connected again as Fruchte chipped the ball from just outside the six to allow Kennedy for a great volley shot. Kennedy was not done yet as she completed her hat trick with 7:51 left in the half assisted by Guuuuut. The defense decided to get into the scoring frenzy as Natilie McConnell scored the 5th goal assisted by Strickler. Defender Mikala Quinn scored the 6th goal fed from a corner kick by Kylie Beery. This left the score 6 to 0 at the half way point.
All 30 players for Bellmont competed in the contest.  The only goal in the second half came from the next batch of combination scoring for the future Squaws' squad as freshman Megan Quinn (sister of senior Mikala Quinn) assisted by freshman Bailey Christlieb (sister of senior Taylor Kennedy). Megan took the shot from 20 yards out eight minutes into the second half.
Bellmont plays Heritage on the road tonight at 5:00pm for the final regular season match. The Squaws first sectional game will be next Thursday night against the winner of the South Side vs Wayne match that will be played on Tuesday.
