Sneaking up on cancer

March 19, 2014

Members of the Adams County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday participated in the “Suits and Sneakers Challenge” sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Each employee of the department who made a $5 donation to the ACS was permitted to wear sneakers to work on the first day of the NCAA basketball tournament. The program is a nationwide collaboration between the ACS and the National Association of Basketball Coaches to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living. In the photo above are records deputy Lynn Rickord, Sheriff Shane Rekeweg, Chief Deputy Eric Beer and program coordinator Deputy Jody Mawhorr.
