Indiana Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman met with local Berne officials to tour the Munsterberg Clock Tower on Tuesday.
Skillman, who visited Berne in 2005 to discuss the city's plans for the tower, stated that she was very impressed with the new tower and the ambition with which the city approached the project.
"I certainly couldn't recognize this as the same location from seven years ago," said Skillman. "This city had a grand vision to showcase Berne and its heritage. It's far more magnificent than I ever imagined."
Officials arranged for the Glockenspiel, which plays daily at noon, 3, 6, and 9 p.m., to perform for Skillman, who became teary-eyed as "Back Home Again in Indiana" rang throughout the square.
"It's very moving," said Skillman. "It's a very spiritual  feeling to watch the dancers and hear that song playing. It's simply beautiful."
