Sidney L. Fennig, 66, of Decatur, passed away at his residence on Monday, November 5, 2012.
He was born in Adams County on January 19, 1946, to the late G. Richard and Emma (Fogle) Fennig.
On January 6, 1979, he married Mary M. Minnich; she survives in Decatur.
Sid was a college graduate of Ball State University in 1968 and a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity. He was secretary of the Blue Creek Conservation Club, a member of the Indiana Hunter Education Association, NRA Lifetime member, helped start and establish the local Eddie Eagle Gun Safety program. He was an Industrial Arts teacher from 1970-1992 then Technology Coordinator from 1992-2007 for North Adams Community Schools, retiring in 2007.
Among survivors are a daughter, Carrie E. (Chris) Morrissey of Ireland; three sons, Jeffery R. (Tiffany) Fennig of New Haven, Jon A. (Hannah) Fennig of Franklin, Ind., and Samuel J. (Lyndsey) Fennig of Findlay, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Liam and Addyson Fennig.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 9, at Decatur Church of God. Dr. Robert Brink and Rev. James Compton will be officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Eddie the Eagle or Bellmont Rifle club.
