Shop is lost to fire

November 30, 2011

In the midst of snow and chilly conditions, Decatur firefighters spent some four hours on Tuesday battling a fire at Woodpecker & Son, a large workshop located three or four miles north of Decatur.
The building was destroyed by the blaze.
The woodshop is owned by John Yoquelet and is located at 10063 N. County Road 100 West.
A fire department spokesman this morning estimated the building to have been 30 by 60 feet.
Decatur firefighters were dispatched at 2:56 p.m. and were on the scene until 7:16 p.m. They were sent back at 9:34 p.m., but a suspected rekindle turned out to be just a burning pile of wood.
