Shirley N. Brite

    Shirley N. Brite, 71 of Decatur, died on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    Shirley was born on August 28, 1939, in Adams County to Carl D. and May (Kaehr) Hirschy.
    On August 23, 1958, she married Joseph J. Brite, who survives.
    Shirley was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur and the Rosary Society. She worked at Davenport School of the Arts in Florida for 12 years, then retired from Central Soya in Decatur in 1990 as an operator.
    Other survivors are three sons, Tony M. (Kim) Brite of New Haven, Mike L. (Amy) Brite of Decatur, and Ryan A. (Mendi) Brite of Peterson; two daughters, Denise R. Brite of Bluffton and Jan E. (Mike) Miller of Decatur; a daughter-in-law, Diana L. (Doots) Brite of Decatur; a sister, Diana (William) Tonner of Bluffton; a brother, Ned (Glenna) Hirschy of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
    Preceding Shirley in death were a daughter, Carla A. Brite; a son, Dan J. Brite; a brother, Vernon Hirschy; and a sister, Marlene Hoffman.
    Visitation is 4-8 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2010, at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
    A 9:20 a.m. prayer service will be conducted on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic church. Father David Voors will be officiating.
    Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur.
    Memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School in Decatur or to Family Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Indiana, at Berne.
