Area lending institutions have been asked to submit quotes by August 20 for the issuance of $500,000 in bond anticipation notes for a rural sewer project designed to serve approximately 265 Adams County households.
Securing the preliminary funding is the next step in an estimated $4.5 million project by the Adams County Regional Sewer District to install the county's first-ever rural sewer in the outlying areas of Monmouth and Roe Acres, Bobo, Pleasant Mills and Arcadia Village.
The sewer district's board of directors held its monthly meeting Thursday evening at Riverside Center in Decatur to review financing options and updated construction plans for the project. Board president Tim Barkey said the district is putting the final touches on a contract with the city of Decatur for treatment of the raw sewage collected by the new sewer line, as well as future maintenance costs and billing charges the city will assess.
