Sentencing reforms will have major impact on Adams Co.

March 11, 2014

The annual State of the Judiciary address was presented by Adams County Circuit Court Judge Chad Kukelhan and Superior Court Judge Patrick Miller to members of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce at Monday’s monthly noon chamber luncheon at Woodcrest retirement community.
Miller, during his portion of the address, touched upon changes coming this summer in the way some criminal defendants are sentenced and where they serve their stints of incarceration.
The judge said a bill approved last year by the Indiana General Assembly will implement several reforms to Indiana’s criminal law statutes. Those changes go into effect July 1, causing major changes to sentencing, reform and punishment options in the state.
