Sculptures unveiling, walk are scheduled for Thursday

    The first annual Decatur Sculpture Walk will kick off in downtown Decatur on  Thursday with an artist's lecture at 2 p.m. at the Adams County Library in Decatur.
    Twelve pieces of new original sculpture art will be on display in the downtown area, organizers said. Four sculptures will be inside local businesses, while 12 will be located along Second St.
    The sculpture unveiling is scheduled for 6 p.m. on the Madison St. side of the courthouse, in the area of the Taste of Decatur food tent. Walking tour maps will be available to guide visitors to each sculpture and provide instructions on how to vote for the People's Choice Award.
    Those exhibiting sculptures inside local businesses include Jesse Costello, 30, Fort Wayne; Gregory Mendez, 30, Decatur; Curtis Rose, 65, Decatur; and Larry Wiedman, 56, Huntington.
    Those exhibiting outdoor sculptures will be Gregory Mendez, 30, Decatur; Matt Miller, 35, Cape Girardeau, Mo.;Benjamin Pierce. 28, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Nathan Pierce, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Curtis Rose, 65, Decatur; Aubris Taylor, age unavailable, Decatur; and Larry Wiedman, 56, Huntington.    Also scheduled Thursday are children's sculpture activity from 2 to 5 p.m. at the library in Decatur, and the Taste of Decatur from 4 to 8 p.m. at the courthouse.
