Twelve Adams County Boy Scouts recently visited the Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) as part of the annual “Troop and a Tour … for the Troops” project.
Each Scout received a presentation about the historical aspects of the building and a professional overview of the purpose and mission of the foundation by Executive Director Coni Mayer.
After the presentation, the Scouts were invited to the conference room where they were interviewed by two Eagle Scouts acting as foundation volunteers.
The Scouts practiced their popcorn selling techniques in preparation for the annual popcorn sale soon to be under way. Foundation volunteers were on hand to talk with the boys and serve as “customers” while the Scouts honed their sales efforts.
The ACCF purchased 24 packages of popcorn, which will now benefit a different kind of troop – military members from Adams County serving active duty.
The foundation welcomes those with friends, family, or neighbors serving in the military to stop by the ACCF, 102 N. Second Street in downtown Decatur, to pick up container sof popcorn to send to their military member as a reminder of home.
A thank-you note is attached to each container reminding military members Adams County residents appreciate their service in the military.
For more information contact the ACCF, (260) 724-3939, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Popcorn will be delivered to the ACCF after November 5 and will be available
only while supplies last.
