Science Central set for Spotlight
A new addition to Spotlight on Business Expo this year is the Science Central presentation, Outreach to Space.
The program will convert the display area in the Bellmont Middle School gymnasium into a home base for exploration, according to officials of the Fort Wayne-based Science Central. Interactive exhibits, designed and built by San Francisco's famed Exploratorium, are guaranteed to inspire minds from ages 2-102 as they discover astronomy, space travel and so much more, Science Central officials said.
Freestanding hands-on exhibits wil;include:
• Rocket to Mars
• Big Dipper – Star Pattern Asterism
• Lego Table
• Orbit Pinball
• Bug Out Bob (pressure suit)
• Different Weight/Different Planets
• Gravity Well
Outreach to Space will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Also at the Saturday event at BMS, the Fort Wayne Children’s zoo will present Those Amazing Animals on the main stage at 4 p.m.
The interactive program allows participants to get an up-close-and-personal look at several animals, officials said. Animals in the show include: a Senegal Parrot, armadillo, Ball Ppython, African Pixie Frog and a tarantula.
Before the animal show, the main stage will feature the following: Bellmont Middle School band, 1 p.m.; Decatur Dance Academy, 2 p.m.; Razz 'M Jazz Dancers, 2:30 p.m.; Cuties of Decatur, 3:30 p.m.
Other highlights include free bingo at 9 a.m., Rotary auction at 11 a.m., balloon and face painting, and hourly cash drawings starting at 1 p.m.
Breakfast will be available at 8 a.m. and lunch at 11 a.m.
Doors to the middle school will open at 8 a.m. Some 52 booths will be set up inside.
There is no charge for parking or admission at Spotlight.
