Schultz, the daughter of Scott and Cami Schultz of Decatur, played a critical role for Craig Krull's 2010 state 3A championship volleyball team at Bellmont, and she also was a member of the 2007 state champions at BHS. She played all four years and was a starter in three of those years.
She was named first team All-State by the Indiana Volleyball Coaches Association and she was also first team All-NHC this past year. She was named to a variety of all-area teams by local publications.
The 6'2" middle blocker received a lot of attention from college recruiters. She was courted by division one state schools Indiana, Butler, Evansville and Valparaiso. Wichita State, Kansas State, Kent State and Virginia Tech were other division one schools interested in Schultz. Smaller area schools such as St. Francis, Indiana Tech and Indiana Wesleyan also recruited Schultz.
Newberry presented Schultz with a strong financial aid package and she liked the small size of the school. After a visit, the BHS senior felt that she fit in there, liked the coach and the young ladies on the squad, and the nice southern campus.
