Saying it with flowers

Two Decatur women — Cindy Wyss and Chris Naatz — were putting their creative talents to good use Thursday afternoon. The employees at Ritter’s Flowers and Gifts in Decatur were hard at work during the store’s busiest time of the year, assembling flower arrangements large and small that were destined to be delivered to someone’s sweetheart for Valentine’s Day.
Store owner Tami Miller knows the routine well after 38 years at the local gift shop. Valentine’s Day, she said, is always the busiest time of the entire year for the shop.
Roses, as usual, are once again the hot-ticket item this year, Miller said, with a dozen of the flowers that symbolize love going for $68 — which includes a vase.
Although most deliveries were scheduled for today, Miller said the store has been making drop-offs since Wednesday.
