Sara Lucile Collier, 99, of Decatur, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Swiss Village Nursing Center.
Sara was born January 28, 1914, in Cambridge, Neb., to the late Felton B. and Lucile E. (Perry) Moore.
On June 12, 1943, she married C. Doyle Collier; he preceded her in death on September 30, 1998.
Sara had been a member of First United Methodist Church since 1947. She was involved in the Shakespeare Club, Mother’s Study Club, Adams County Hospital Auxiliary, chairman of the Girl Scout Council, chairman of the Adams County Cancer Society and a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She was a homemaker, teacher and secretary for Collier Insurance Agency. She also wrote informational brochures for the Extension Office in Nebraska.
Among survivors are two sons, David L. (Sandra) Collier and Richard D. (Nancy) Collier, both of Decatur; daughter, Cynthia (John) Painter of Fort Wayne; sister, Virginia Holzer of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Sara was preceded in death by two brothers, Kevin and Perry Moore; and two sisters, Kay Ward and Marge Carson.
Visitation will be from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, August 18, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 19, at First United Methodist Church. Pastor Amy Covington and Pastor Harold Klinker will be officiating.
A private family burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to First United Methodist Church or ACCF Angel Cancer Fund.
