SAdams leaves field behind in Monroe; Lady Stars take 2nd

MONROE— South Adams secured their slot atop the ACAC cross country standings with scary ease on Tuesday night downing the competition by a staggering 40 point difference.

The Berne boys finished with 17 points taking the top three spots as well as fifth, sixth, eighth, and 24th place dominating the field.
Leo managed 57 points to finish in second place followed by Bluffton who had 86, Adams Central in fourth with 104 points, Southern Wells with 149, Heritage at 170, Garrett at 173, and Woodlan in last at 182.
Sawyer Miller continued his great improvements this season with a 17:15 victory as the first Stars runner across the line. He had company at the top, however, as SA's Bailey McIntire was second at 17:16 followed by Brody Shane in third at 17:18.
Leo's Will Emery broke up the Star party at the top with a fourth place finish at 17:40, but Daniel Velasco was fifth at 17:48 followed by Daniel Steffen in sixth at 17:53.
Clayton Rhoades finished eighth for SA with a time of 18:04 but was the sixth runner so his points did not affect that Stars' final score showing just how dominant South Adams was against the other seven teams in the ACAC field.
In 24th, Cole Litwiller was the final Starfire finisher at 19:29. Putting that into perspective, Garrett's best finisher was 23rd, while Woodlan's top placer managed 29th.
Calvin Isch was the best AC runner with an 11th place finish with a time of 18:09 narrowly missing the top 10. In 13th and just behind was teammate Gavin Kaehr who had a time of 18:14.
