SAdams budget up for adoption

September 11, 2013

Although a public hearing on the 2014 budget was scheduled as part of the regular monthly meeting of the South Adams Schools Board of Trustees, there were no members of the public in attendance to comment on the document on Tuesday night.
The projected 2014 budget shows total expenditures estimated at $15,220,275, with tax levy funds projected at $5,444,671 and an estimated tax rate of 1.722 percent. A breakdown of the various funds within the budget estimates $9,460,099 in general fund expenditures in 2014, $1,870,000 in debt services, $1,990,176 for capital projects, $1,500,000 in transportation costs and a rainy day fund of $400,000.
With no public input, Superintendent Scott Litwiller will now submit the proposed budget for board adoption at the Oct. 8 school board meeting.
Meanwhile, the board approved an amendment to the 2012-13 Certificated Employee Evaluation Plan for the current school year.
