BERNE—A competitive ACAC volleyball match fell into the South Adams win column Thursday night as the Starfires withstood several Bluffton rallies to win the varsity match in three straight games, 25-23, 25-19, 25-19.
Chelsea Bollenbacher dominated the front line for the Starfires knocking down 20 kills. She also added seven digs and four blocks for the SA team.
Alyssa Bluhm recorded a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs and nearly had three categories in twin figures as she had seven kills. Cody Farlow finished with 12 digs and three blocks and kills, and Lily Taing passed for 12 assists and had six digs.
Both the reserve and freshman encounters went three games with South Adams winning both of those as well.
In the junior varsity action, the Starfires earned a 25-21, 19-25, 15-4 triumph as Jody Potts had four kills, eight assists and two aces, Holly Taylor had nine digs, and Mackenzie Jennings reaped two aces and eight digs.
The SA frosh spotted Bluffton a 25-18 win in the first game and then rallied for a 25-19 victory in the second to force a third game. That round went to South Adams 15-9. Keysha LeMaster powered in four aces and five kills, Shelby Mellencamp had seven digs and six kills, and Reba Morehouse dished out 14 assists for the Starfires.
