Ruth Mae Rupp

    Ruth Mae (McClure) Rupp, 94, a resident of Woodcrest Nursing Center for the past nine and a half years, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012.
    She was born in Van Wert County, Ohio, on August 8, 1917, to the late William H. and Ada L. (Moser) McClure.    She married Mervin C. Rupp on August 31, 1941; he preceded her in death on December 5, 1997.
    After graduating from Wren High School in 1935, she attended Fort Wayne Bible College, graduating in 1939 with a Bible Music Degree. She traveled with an evangelistic team until she married. She and her husband and family spent 37 years in Alaska, where her husband taught school, and they did missionary work.
    Ruth was a charter member of Decatur Missionary Church, which she and her husband helped start in 1943. She was active in teaching and ministering in music. She was also active in the Christian Women’s Club of Decatur.
    She is survived by two daughters, Janet Gray of Lancaster, Ohio. and Debbie (Mark) Blosser of Manzini, Swaziland; two sons, Roger Rupp of Alaska and Keith Rupp of Lancaster; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; two stepgreat-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry Gray, four bothers and two sisters.
    A memorial service will be held at Woodcrest in the Porter Auditorium on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Floyd Vieth officiating.
    Preferred memorials may be made to Cornerstone Community Church or to Trans World Radio.
    Arrangements were by Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
