Ruth L. Peters, 85, Decatur, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.
She was born Wednesday, Oct. 17, 1928, in Allen County, the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie (Oetting) Wiegmann.
Ruth married Melvin W. C. Peters May 7, 1949; he preceded her in death April 20, 2003.
Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Preble, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and the LWML.
She was a homemaker and had previously worked at Dollar General, Goody’s in Decatur and Preble Feed and Grain.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda (Michael) Fruchte of Decatur; two sons, Larry Peters of Decatur and Leroy (Myra) Peters of Tekonsha, Mich.; a sister, Gloria Werling of New Haven; six grandchildren, Tiffany Peters, Crystal (Adam) Maddsen, Chloe Peters, Nik Peters, Kaila (Dustin) Hart and Lyndsey (Sam) Fennig; three step-grandchildren, Justin Kukelhan, Katelyn Roe and Lance Roe; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding Ruth in death was a brother, Walter Wiegmann.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble, with Rev. Dr. Daniel Brege officiating. Internment will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
