Russell L. Plumley
Russell L. Plumley, 77, of Monroeville, Ind., passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Monday, June 17, 1935, in Van Wert, Ohio, to the late Dewey and Esther (Johnson) Plumley.
Russell married Dorcas E. Sautbine on September 4, 1954; she passed away on October 4, 2006.
Russell was a member of East Liberty United Methodist Church near Monroeville, where he was active as an adult Sunday school teacher and was a former youth leader. He had also served as president of the finance committee for the church. He was a 1953 graduate of Decatur High School and was owner and operator of R. L. Plumley, Inc., in Monroeville. He was a former member of the Monroeville Lions Club.
Russell was a professional shuffle board player in the Bradenton, Fla., area and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Among survivors are two daughters, Marilyn (Stan) Cress of Convoy, Ohio, and Judy (Cecil) Hook of Hicksville, Ohio; two sons, Stuart Plumley of Ottawa, Kansas, and Thane (Kathy) Plumley of Van Wert, Ohio; three brothers, Harold (Opal) Plumley of Ocala, Fla.; Dean Plumley of East Chicago, Ill.; and Chalmer (Sue) Plumley of Fort Wayne; sister, Eva Mae (Phil) Rambo of Ellettsville, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Chris) Crawford, Beth Hook, Cecil (Alicia) Hook, Shelly (Dan) Shivley, Mike (Jill) Cress, Travis (Angie) Plumley, Josh Plumley, and Kyle Plumley; and 10 great-grandchildren, William Crawford, Ethan Crawford, Tyler Crawford, Aiden Hook, Charlotte Hook, Nate Shivley, Dylan Cress, Lucas Cress, Morgan Cress, and Stella Rose Plumley.
Russell was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Plumley.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at East Liberty United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, also at the church with Pastor Ralph Klinker and Pastor Bill Farmer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to East Liberty United Methodist Church and the Monroeville EMS.
