Russell K. Nilsen

    Russell K. Nilsen, 86, of Decatur, died on Saturday at his residence following an extended illness.
    He married Mary Alderson on July 25, 1953; she survives.
    He was plant manager at the Silberline Corp. facility in Decatur, owned and operated the Western Auto store in Decatur in the late 1970s, and started the Adams County branch of Love In the Name of Christ in 1997.
    He served in the southern Pacific Ocean in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
    Other survivors are one son, Don Nilsen (and wife Barbara) of Decatur; three daughters, Mrs. Marty (Julie) Braun of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Mrs. Ted (Gail) Baker of Muncie; and Mrs. Steve (Margene) Harvey of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Decatur Church of God, with visitation from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday in the church.
    Preferred memorials are to Love In the Name of Christ and to American Legion Post 43 in Decatur.
