Robert E. Meyer, 85, of Decatur, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
Robert was born December 20, 1927, in Adams County, to the late Arthur C. amd Beulah (Nichols) Meyer.
On May 13, 1950, he married Helen J. Geimer; she preceded him in death on March 10, 2012.
Bob was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church; the K of C, where he was a 4th Degree and past Grand Knight; American Legion Post 43 Color Guard and Past Commander; and also a member of Korean Vets and Federal Order of Police. He retired from International Harvester after 22 years of service. He served during the Korean War in the United States Air Force.
Among survivors are two sons, David E. (Kathy) Meyer of Yoder, Ind., and Eric A. “Keebie” (Tammy) Meyer of Saint Augustine, Fla.; daughter, Linda J. (Kent) Daniels of Decatur; six grandchildren, Nathan and Michael Meyer, Ashley (Meyer) Shifferly, Scott Meyer, Rachael Nowak, and Kristi (Daniels) Lengerich; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee McCann, Landon Danels, and Allison Lengerich.
Robert was prededed in death by a son, Michael R. Meyer; brother, Steven Meyer; and two sisters, Virginia Carey and Judy DesJean.
Visitation will be noon-4 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10-11 a.m. Monday, July 22, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Officiating will be Seminarian Royce Gregerson.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 43.
Preferred memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School or American Legion Post 43 Colored Guard.
