Richard Wellman, 84, of Bryant, died Friday, May 11, 2012, in Kindred Hospital, Lima, Ohio.
He was born in Bryant on July 5, 1927, the son of Jerome and Agnes (Krieg) Wellman Sr.
He was married June 30, 1951, to Ruth C. Weigel; she passed away June 5, 2010.
Richard was a farmer and retired from New Idea in Coldwater, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a medic, a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and member of the St. Joseph Sodality. He had also been a member of the Bryant Lions Club.
Surviving are five sons, Tom (Mary Lou) Wellman of New Palistine, Ind.; Ken (Karen) Wellman of Portland; Ed (Linda) Wellman of Bryant; Tim Wellman of Decatur; and Rick (Becky) Wellman of Selma; one daughter, Patricia (Kevin) Price of Decatur; two brothers, Leroy Wellman of Greenville; and Eugene Wellman of Glendale, Ariz.; three sisters, Helen Wellman of Decatur; Rita Heimann of Decatur; and Doris Wack of Tucson, Ariz.; 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three daughters, Connie, Rebecca and Kathleen.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 15, from 3-7 p.m., with a scripture service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m., in Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. David Hoying presiding.
Burial will follow in the Holy Trinity Cemetery.
