Richard K. (Dick) Dynes, 78, of Geneva, passed away at 9:20 a.m.,on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton.
He was born on Tuesday, January 30, 1934, in Bryant, the son of the late Lawrence H. and Florence (Bailey) Richards.
Dick graduated from the Bryant High School, class of 1952. He attended Kendall College and Ball State University where he received his Bachelor's Degree. Dick lived most of his life in Kokomo and Tipton, where he taught art and music. He then worked for the House of James and had also owned and operated the Hair Nook in Indianapolis.
Dick had served as the choir director at White Harvest Church, Indianapolis, and played piano for the High Street United Methodist Church in Geneva.
Among survivors are his niece, Vicki Beer of Monroe; niece Kathy (Phil) Teeple of Liberty Center; three great-nieces; one great-nephew; sister-in-law Sondra K. Dynes, of Monroe; three great-great-nieces; and two great-great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Ruth E. (Reinhard) Dynes, and brother Ronald L. Dynes.
Arrangements are being handled by Downing and Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington Street, Geneva, Ind., where family and friends may gather to share and remember from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, March 25, and from 10-11 a.m. Monday, March 26.
A Service To Celebrate Dick's Life will be held at Downing and Glancy Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, with the Rev. James Bontrager officiating. \Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.
Preferred memorials are to High Street United Methodist Church or Family Life Care.
